Training and Employment of Disabled Persons Board (TEDPB)
The Training and Employment of Disabled Persons Board became operational with the proclamation of the Training and Employment of Disabled Persons Act in 1996. The Board caters for the training and employment of persons with disabilities and operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity (Social Security and National Solidarity Division).
MISSION:
To promote and sustain the integration of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society so that they can also enjoy meaningful and fulfilling lives.
VISION: Valuing People with disabilities
Create equal opportunities to mainstream persons with disabilities in training and employment.
FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD:
• To prevent discrimination against persons with disabilities resulting from or arising out of their disability.
• To provide, or make arrangements, for the provision of vocational training to persons with disabilities.
• To act as a facilitator in providing opportunities for work and entrepreneurship.
• To work jointly with private sector/parastatal bodies/NGOs to promote training and employment of persons with disabilities.
• To tap into all available resources for the benefit of persons with disabilities.
• To work towards an inclusive society.
• To value/support/sustain persons with disabilities to achieve their full potential.
